Keeping Record: Umbilical Cord & BCG Shot

UMBILICAL CORD:I was so proud last week Saturday, 9 October, as Alessandro's stump from his umbilical cord finally fell off! It took its time, considering most people say that it should take 2 weeks! But almost 3 weeks, it finally came off, while I was trying to clean it, in the Willowbridge toilets! LOL. For some reason this signifies, to me, my little baby becoming a big boy! I dont know why, but I felt like the proudest mommy that it decided to finally come loose! (-: So i nicely popped it into his poop back, so I could show off to daddy when we got home!

BCG PIMPLE:
Then, today, with Alessandro's usual morning bath, i noticed that his BCG shot (to prevent against TB) pimple is finally starting to rear its ugly head! He's got this bright red swollen spot on his right arm! It doesn't look sore, but its finally here! I was also told it would start showing at 3 weeks, and at 3 weeks and 4 days, it's finally shown. So, now to leave it completely alone, as instructed by the nurses!

Some info on the pimple:
The pimple, which forms after the BCG vaccine, tells you that the vaccine is working. You can expect the pimple to increase in size, so that it looks like a small boil. A whitish discharge may come out of it. When the pimple dries out, a scab will form. This scab will scale off by itself once the pimple has healed. There may be a small scar left behind. It will take about 3 months to heal.
